BHUBANESWAR CALLING…
ORISSALIVE.COM’S
Ranita RAY and Deewa PARWEEN-
has these details
Loud music, eye dazzling
colorful lights, young
folk dancing to the tunes
of the DJs, yes the temple
city’s Discotheques and
Pubs is being talked about
on it way behind leaving
its tradition and turning
into a major metropolis.
The old ways of refreshment
were more of spending
times with family and
friends in family get-togethers,
parks and movies. But,
today’s scenario is completely
changed. Now the Bhubaneswarians
like any other metropolitans
work hard through out
the week. As the weekend
comes the city has a real
party time. After a hectic
week the youngsters are
seen parting with friends
either at pub or discotheque
or at any far off place.
Thanks to the vision
of City planners and government,
which has brought a new
look to this Temple City
with more glitterati and
up market view that, could
be observed from writing
in the walls. So are from
booming IT centers, engineering
and management colleges
and convention centers.
And of course the rapid
industrialization and
large scale foreign direct
investments in the state
All these have contributed
the growth and transformation
of this city towards more
an urbane look of its
lanes, thoroughfares and
obviously its people.
Keeping this in view,
the city now has two discotheques,
namely De-Blues, and pubs
of city’s leading star
hotels like Swosti plaza
and Mayfair besides the
elite club centers.
At the same time there
are also other groups
of people who instead
of opting for this, prefer
just to shop, chat and
eat with friends. This
has surely ushered a promising
scope for the growth of
fast-food joints in every
nook and corner of the
city. Besides these, Bhubaneswar
has also high-class food
joints like Pizza huts,
Smokin Joes, Café
Coffee Day, Monogynies.
These regular hang outs
and eat out joints have
the attraction for ITians
and management students.
Not only food joints,
discos, the temple city
is also expanding with
as many as shopping malls
in other metros. Now people
are also having fun by
getting every necessary
thing under one roof.
Now they are buying monthly
grocery along with trendy
fashionable clothes from
the same place.
Big bazaar was the first
mall, which brought up
this trend of one stop
shop, which gradually
followed by different
malls like Vishal Mega
mart. The World and Pantaloons.
This has surely proved
that the Bhubaneswarians
are growing financially
along with an attitude
of no quality compromise.
Here people are quite
ready to spend money to
get quality product and
also to lead a high-class
life. They like any other
big city folk are seen
spending hundred and thousands
of rupees for foods in
star hotels. They are
also quite interested
to make themselves look
trendy and stylish. This
in return brings in modern
beauty salons like Shenaz
Herbals, Habibs and many
such in our city. Where
spending 500 for a haircut
or thousand for a facial
is not a big bug amount
for the Bhubaneswarians.
Interestingly, the culture
of Window Shopping is
also quite in here. That
is, if your pocket is
light, but you want to
spend your spare time,
then just get in to any
of these malls and have
a glimpse of the new products,
offers and also try out
some fashion articles.
You don’t have to spend
a single penny, but can
enjoy like any one else
with this trend of window-shopping.
If you are a game lover
then the capital city
has also solution to it.
Now there are snooker
clubs and other game parlors
like Thunder ball at the
service of the people.
So one can say you name
it and Bhubaneswar has
it.
The cities modern amusement
options are not limited
here. It has much more
to give to its residents.
Now Bhubaneswar is also
organizing trade fairs,
handloom and handicrafts
expos, bookfairs, and
auto show every now and
then to give altogether
a new taste of delight
to its people. Recently
it had national book fair,
expo, Interior designing
show, national handloom
fair-Sisir Saras, and
many more, among which
many are still continuing.
The day is not too far
when capital city Bhubaneswar
will be equipped with
rest of the facilities
and mode of amusements
like metro rails, Prepaid
taxis, PVRs, and Multiplexes.
After seeing the new
look of this temple city,
one can say that it has
every capability to cope
with the new changes of
this modern world and
to dwell with the new
age. Even if the city
has turned in to a modern
metro city but still it
has not lost its traditional
and spiritual soul. The
youngster, who is enjoying
modern music in discotheques,
also pay regular visit
to the temple.
They are still celebrating
their festivals with their
family, of course in a
bit modern way. The city
is still known for its
temples, art and culture
through out the world.
It has very well retained
its originality. It says
to the modern era- yes!
You are welcome but I
will not compromise with
my rich glory of tradition
and culture.
Nice time Bhubaneswarians.
