ISI Links with Orissa Naxalites Suspected Delhi takes up the matter with Bangla Desh
From Gopal Misra in New Delhi
NEW DELHI: July 17

While the political pundits are busy in calculating the number game which will decide the fate of the politically tense Manmohan Singh Government on next Tuesday, July 22, India has bluntly communicated to the neighboring Bangla Desh that it has to curb activities of the ISI sponsored terrorists groups on its soil.

India has communicated to Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhary, Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Bangla Desh's army-backed Interim Government that it has adequate evidence to prove that how ISI is using Bangla Desh soil to fan the activities of the terrorists as well Maoists in various parts of the country, especially in the bordering areas of Assam, and the Naxalite-infected areas on the Orissa-Andhra Pradesh borders. ISI-nexus with ULFA is already known in Assam .

Just on the eve of this communication, the Bangla Desh has enacted the Anti-terrorism Ordinance on Wednesday July 16. This anti-terrorism law provides for death penalty for any one resorting to murder, kidnapping or damaging property to create panic and jeopardizing the country's sovereignty. It also provides a time frame that the trail will be completed within a period of six months.

Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhary has promised full cooperation to the Indian Govenrment, but he pointed out "no one should point out finger at Bangla Desh automatically for any suspected HUJI action in other countries.

Just before this communication,

Meanwhile, the Indian Government has adopted a two-pronged strategy to

Tackle this problem. The North Block, which headquarters the Union Home Ministry, has formed a core group to locate the Naxalite hideouts. Apart from the state police forces of Orissa and Andhra Pradesh, paramilitary troops are being deployed in the jungles to round up the Naxalites and their sympathizers. A massive combing operation is being launched.

The Union Home Ministry has also provided adequate documentary evidences to the External Affairs Ministry regarding the ISI-sponsored terrorists activities in the country.

The foreign office has told Bangla Desh Government that the ISI is quietly supplying ammunition and other supports to the Maoists active in different parts of the country. The upsurge in Maoists activities in the district of Malkangiri on the southern tip of Orissa is yet another example that how Bangla Desh soil is being used for the terrorists activities in India .

On vote of (NO) Confidence.

When the will seek confidence vote in the Lok Sabha, received crucial support from an unexpected quarter, Hindu Mahasabha.

It may be noted that the Hindu Mahasabha does not recognize the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) as the sole representative of the Hindu interests. It has already accused the BJP undermining the vital Hindu interests. The BJP did not care to construct the Rama temple in Ayodhya even in the adjacent areas of the disputed shrine. The Supreme Court has already allowed that construction is permitted in the neighboring areas, which are not under any dispute, but the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government did not care to develop the area. It is reported that the Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh too has sought explanation from the top BJP leaders for their failure to develop the undisputed areas.

With a critical, but in an indirect approach the Hindu Mahasabha today asked the BJP not to oppose the Manmohan Singh government on the nuclear issue.

In a strongly worded statement, the Hindu Mahasabha chief, Swami Chakrapani, regretted that some political parties have unnecessarily resorted to oppose the government on this issue even endangering the country's democratic fiber. He was dismayed that some leaders have even tried to make it a communal issue or turn into a corporate war.

Without naming APJ Abdul Kalam, a former President of India, who had played a key-role in the Pokharan-II, he further stated that all political parties should abide by the opinions and advice of the experts and specialists on this sensitive issue.

Earlier, the Hindu Mahasabha has already criticized the BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate, L.K. Advani for calling M.A. Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan . The party journal pointed out that how a senior and seasoned leader like Advani could call Jinnah a secular leader. Secularism envisages setting up of a government, which does not work under pressure or guidance of the church. Jinnah was a non-conformist Muslim. He seldom prayed in a mosque, but he established a Muslim state to be run on Shariat or Islamic laws. Therefore, the party feels that either Advani does not understand a difference between a non-conformist and secular or he deliberately indulged in praising Jinnah to seek some Muslim support for his party.

With the support of Muslim League and Hindu Mahasabha on the vexed nuclear issue, the socio-religious base of the present Manmohan Singh led United Progressive Alliance Government appears to have expanded. The mischievous statement of the UP Chief Minister, Mayawati that the proposed nuclear deal is against Muslims has already been nullified by the Muslim league's decision to support the government on this issue.

The Hindu Mahasabha's support has further weakened the BJP's stand against the government.

It is said that there are no permanent friends or foes in politics, but it is really being reasserted in India 's current political scene. The mudslinging in the national capital is in full swing.   In the Central Hall, a number of MPs were seen joking with journalists, where the Rs. 25 Crores is being offered. However, India is enjoying a real political drama, yesterday's opponents the left parties and BJP appear to have joined hands to defeat the government on the floor. In the aftermath of the 1998 Pokharan II nuclear blasts, the left parties were in the forefront of criticizing the then Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, but in name of national sovereignty they have joined hands. All the sides are indulging in gossips and rumors.
